Texas Ranch Round Up

Posted on by

The Texas Ranch Round Up in Wichita Falls, TX began in 1981 as a way for family ranches in North Texas to come together for fun, competition and to raise money for charity.  The Round Up is a modern rendition of events that took place across the west throughout the 1800s and 1900s among the multitude of ranch operations, when cowboys came together for fun, food, and bragging rights.  The Round Up includes several events over a weekend each August.  Events include important features of living and working on family-owned working cattle ranches throughout Texas.  Events featured include a cattle horse competition, rodeo, art and poetry contest, country vendors, and a church service.  Claimed by the organization committee to be the original modern Round Up, this event has been copied by many cities across the nation to spread the ideal of the modern working cowboy.
